Jewish Home tops the list for nursing homes in upstate New York
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For the fourth consecutive year Newsweek has ranked Jewish Home among the top three large nursing homes in New York State on the prestigious America’s Best Nursing Homes 2027 list — with Jewish Home ranked the highest among all upstate nursing homes outside of New York City.
The intent of Newsweek’s annual list is to provide a tool that assists older adults and their families in making informed decisions about long-term care.
“Being recognized among the top three of America’s Best Nursing Homes in New York State for four consecutive years is a reflection of the exceptional dedication, compassion, and expertise our team brings to residents and patients every day,” said Michele Schirano, Senior Vice President and Administrator at Jewish Home. “We are honored by this distinction and grateful to our staff, residents, families and supporters whose trust and commitment inspire us to continue raising the bar for quality care.”
The Newsweek rankings were based on four pillars:
· Performance data (staff-to-patient ratio, quality measures, health inspections)
· Peer evaluations (surveys from nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals)
· Accreditations (official recognition by key organizations for quality and safety standards)
· Resident satisfaction (positive reviews from patients and residents and their families)
The America’s Best Nursing Homes 2027 winners were recognized in three categories based on size: large (150+ certified beds), medium (100–149 certified beds), and small (50–99 certified beds). Jewish Home has more than 350 certified beds.
“One of the most important decisions families face is choosing a trusted nursing home for themselves or a loved one,” said Alexis Kayse, Newsweek Healthcare Editor. “Finding the right facility can make a profound difference in health outcomes and overall quality of life.”
Working in partnership with global data-intelligence firm Statista, Newsweek analyzed 14,693 nursing homes in the United States and highlighted the leading 1,325 nursing homes on their America’s Best Nursing Homes 2027 list — awarding nursing homes state-by-state that excelled at quality of care, commitment to safety, and resident well-being. Newsweek uses data from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in making determinations.
