The data-driven rating is based on surveys from residents
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Summit Independent Living at Jewish Home has been recognized as a 2026 “Best Senior Living Community” for independent living by U.S. News & World Report. The determination was based on data from surveys completed by residents.
U.S. News analyzed data from more than 100 surveys focused solely on The Summit. Per the survey results, The Summit excels at the following: caregiving, staff and management, community life, activities and enrichment, dining, overall value, and fostering a welcoming and secure environment.
According to U.S. News, “only the highest-rated communities earn a ‘Best” rating,” determined by the highest overall scores in the care levels they offer. The purpose of the ratings is to provide information for consumers seeking a senior-living community for themselves or a family member.
“Choosing a senior living community is a significant life decision for older adults and their families,” said Ben Harder, Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis at U.S. News. “U.S. News’ ‘Best Senior Living’ ratings provide a transparent, data-driven tool to help families identify the highest-quality care available.”
Jewish Home has been fortunate to be recognized by U.S. News with several “Best” ratings. In 2025 these included “Best Nursing Home” for the seventh consecutive year, “Best Independent Living” for The Summit, and “Best Assisted Living” for Wolk Manor Assisted Living.
