Newsweek ranks Jewish Home #2 in NYS on 2026 list of ‘America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities’

Jewish Home was named #1 nursing home in NYS by Newsweek in October

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Newsweek has ranked Jewish Home no. 2 in New York State on the 2026 list of “America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities” (CCRCs).

This news immediately follows Newsweek naming the Jewish Home no. 1 in New York State on the 2026 list of America’s Best Nursing Homes plus U.S. News and World Report recognizing Jewish Home as a 2026 Best Nursing Home for “high performing” short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

This is the third year Jewish Home has been recognized as one of “America’s Best” CCRCs. Jewish Home has climbed to no. 2 in the state after ranking at no. 3 in 2025 and no. 4 in 2024. Nationally, Newsweek ranks Jewish Home in the top 10% of all CCRCs, placed at no. 35 on an elite list of 330, out of a total of nearly 1900 CCRCs.

Jewish Home’s Summit Independent Living, located in Brighton, is the only CCRC in the Rochester region. A CCRC, also known as a life care community, is defined by AARP as “a long-term care option for older people who want to stay in the same place through different phases of the aging process — offering residents a sense of stability and familiarity as their abilities or health conditions change, with a wide range of care, services, and activities in one place.”

“This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our employees, whose compassion and professionalism create a vibrant and supportive community for the people we serve every day,” said Wendy Ferrer, Jewish Home’s Senior V.P. of Housing & Marketing. “We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our residents, who have chosen the security and peace of mind that comes with living in a full-service community offering all levels of care. Together, we are honored to be recognized for creating a place where quality of life and care truly thrive.”

Newsweek’s intent for creating the list of America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities is to help older adults and their families “find the best place to enjoy retirement with exactly the right level of resources and care,” said Newsweek global editor in chief Nancy Cooper.

The Newsweek CCRC rankings are based on survey answers focused on the quality of services and care, including housing accommodations, community services, food, overall care, safety measures, and staffing. Those surveyed included medical professionals, staff, residents, and visitors. Also considered was Jewish Home’s reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), financial standing, and continual expansion of offerings.

Jewish Home offers a full spectrum of programs and services to support older adults and their families, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.
