
Dr. Suzanne Gillespie selected for inaugural class for her dedication and contributions
to long-term care continuum
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jewish Home’s chief medical officer, Dr. Suzanne Gillespie, has been inducted into the inaugural Fellows Class of the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed), awarded the designation of Fellow of PALTmed.
Dr. Gillespie is one of six medical professionals in New York state and 60 nationwide chosen for this prestigious, peer-reviewed credential, being presented for the first time in 2026. She is recognized for her exceptional dedication and sustained contributions to both PALTmed and post-acute and long-term care medicine.
PALTmed is a national leader in empowering compassionate and skilled clinicians to deliver person-centered care in the post-acute and long-term care continuum. PALTmed provides resources and education to interdisciplinary teams working in settings that include skilled nursing facilities, long-term care and assisted living communities, home care, hospice, and Continuing Care and Retirement Communities.
“Being named a Fellow of PALTmed is a profound honor — one that reflects my commitment to advancing post‑acute and long‑term care medicine, as well as the extraordinary colleagues, mentors, families and patients who have shaped my journey,” said Dr. Gillespie, who served as national president of PALTmed in 2022.
About Dr. Gillespie
At Jewish Home Dr. Gillespie provides exemplary clinical care for patients and residents and mentorship to medical staff. She holds board certifications in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a full professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Aging at the University of Rochester.
Her career spans leadership roles at the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System, Monroe Community Hospital, and Fairport Baptist Home. Dr. Gillespie’s published research and process-improvement initiatives have earned her numerous awards and the respect of colleagues nationwide.
